project timeline & key points
Phase 1
For the Plastic Innovation Prize Landing page I had 2 weeks to complete the UX part of this phase.
Phase 2
For this phase I updated the Plastic Innovation Prize Landing page and created three portals (52hz team portal, judge portal and submission portal).
The Design
Landing Page
The landing page provides information about the competition,
including its mission statement, prize, submission process, competition timeline, judge list and prize development council.
Top nav bar allow users to navigate to different section of the
landing page.
52hz team portal
The 52hz team portal (Team Portal) allows 52hz team member to access all submission information and all judges information. At the sametime, the portal allows the team members to do the initial round of filtering before the judges see the submissions. This process will massively reduce the chance for their judges to look at any submissions that do not meet the requirements.
Submissions
After the sign in, 52hz team members will navigate to the Submissions page, where they can see all the submissions that passed the auto filtering system. 52hz team member can also see the submissions and evaluation status of the submissions.
Color coded submission status. Progress, shows how many judges reviewed the submission. Rating, shows average ratings from all evaluated judges. By clicking on the action button allows the 52hz team access to admin actions such as freeze account, reset password etc.
The Notepad allows 52hz team members to take notes on critical information within the portal.
Individual Submission
The individual submissions page provides detailed information about a product. The 52hz team can decided based on the information if they want to pass this submission to the judge to evaluate. The 52hz team can also check on the evaluation progress of the current submission.
judges
The Judges page provides a judge list and evaluation progress by each judge. The 52hz team can also invite judges through this portal.
The 52hz team can click here to access a variety of admin functions.
Judge progress
The Judges progress page gives detailed information about the evaluation status of all submissions from a judge.
The 52hz team can click here to see the scoreboard.
52hz team portal
The main goal of Judge portal is to allow judges of the competition to provide evaluations for each accepted product. The Judge portal sheet shows different key points for judges to evaluate. The portal also allow judges to take notes inside the portal, so that they can come back to where they left off.
Submissions
After signing in, judges will navigate to the Submissions page, where they can see all submissions that have passed the initial filtering round conducted by 52hz team. The judges can also see the status of each submissions.
The Notepad allows judges to take notes on critical information within the portal.
Individual Submission
Individual submissions provide detailed information about a product for judges to evaluate.
Click here to open up evaluation sheet.
Hover on a criteria to see the details.
Submission portal
The Submission portal allow users to upload and submit their information and competition documents to the 52hz team. Target users are small to medium startups/organization/companies founders, co-founders, CEOs and their assistants.
General page
On the General page of the submission portal, users can see their submission status and continue where they left on in the submission process, if they haven’t submitted any documents to the competition.
The Submissions timeline located on the general page allows users to see their personal submissions timeline when they log on to the submission portal.
Submission process step 1- 5.
There was a lot of information that the 52hz team would have liked to have had. At the sametime, the team also wanted to make sure the participants fully understood all competition policies before any participants submitted their work. I reorganized all the required information into groups and I separated them into different steps. This experience also allows users to fill in the required information from an easier to difficult order.
Step 1
Basic information. Almost all of the users can fill in this information without looking up any documents.
Step 2
Step 3
Product & team information. Only some of the users can fill up this information without looking up any documents.
Step 4
Step 5
Requirements, legal document and competition agreements. In this part, we recommend every participant reads through all the given terms. I added downloadable links, so the participants can easily download these items and consult with their legal teams if necessary.
Step 4
Upload files. Here user can upload competition documents based on the requirements. User can download document templates in this step.
The Progress bar allows users to navigate between the different steps.
The drag and drop feature provides an easier document upload experience.
To upload all proper documents for this competition is not an easy process. Users are very likely going to need to get on and off of the portal to make sure all documents match the requirements.
The save button allows users to save their current progress while still in the middle of the submission. So they will not need to re-enter or re-upload everything again each time they log on to the portal.
Step 7
Submit. Once a user submits, they will receive a confirmation and will be navigated back to the general page to wait for further information.
